It's not so much the fact that he suffered his first loss, but the manner in which he conceded his unblemished record which still doesn't sit well with Subriel Matias. What was hoped to serve as a breakout campaign instead became a setback for the junior welterweight knockout artist from the Maternillo section of Fajardo, Puerto Rico. Matias was dropped and eventually outpointed by Armenia's Petros Ananyan this past February at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas this past February.

Pretty messed up when the guy who beat him gets no TV time and the guy who lost, does. They did the same thing when they showed Cletus Seldin instead of the guy who beat him. Same thing when the showed Herring after he lost to Ladarius Miller instead of Miller after their fight.

In fairness hes the B side here. He's not getting TV time over the guy who beat him so much as Malik Hawkins is getting TV time cuz people feel Hawkins can beat Matias.

But yea no argument from me the way boxing should work is the guys who win keep moving up til the are the champ or lose & then you move down to see if you can move back up. Sadly boxing makes no sense as a sport in regards to virtually everything that happens outside the ring.

If Subriel Matias, has made peace with the unfortunate death of one his past opponents. As well as shored up his defenses, then he'll have learned enough from those negative experience's to effectively move forward. Matias has a fighters mentality, when he's in a pitched battle he knows how come up with the victory. He needs to remain disciplined in order to reach the top of his profession. He's got to move out of the way from punches, and work on his lateral movement. If he's able to make these corrections watch out 140 pound devision.

The promoters should of made the Subriel Matias versus Petros Ananyan rematch on this fight card. That would've cleaned up any, and controversy. Their first fight was action packed, I'm sure that their rematch would have been even more so. Lets get that rematch signed, sealed, and delivered, for their fight after this one.

I was big on Matias but I wonder if the dadashev fight has taking it from him.

Rooting for my boy Browny tonight but after that last performance... man, I really don't know if the kid's ever gonna be the same again. Think maybe the Dadashev tragedy might taken something from him.

This ^. Seen an interview with his manager after his last fight saying he'd lost his way, lost his discipline. I'm hoping he can pull his shet together but I can't imagine what it must do to ya knowing you might be responsible for a dudes death. Having to get back in the ring. Lotta guys with that on 'em are never the same afterwards.
