Comments Thread For: Santa Cruz: I've Been Sparring With Bigger Guys; Hopefully I Could Take Tank's Punches

Leo Santa Cruz's chin has been one of his best attributes since he turned pro 14 years ago. The four-division champion's lone loss was a 12-round, majority-decision defeat to Carl Frampton four years ago, which he avenged in their immediate rematch. Gervonta Davis has won all but one of his professional fights by knockout (23-0, 22 KOs) and has stopped 14 straight opponents inside the distance.

If Gamboa could last 12 rounds with a bad foot , i wouldn't be surprised if Leo can too . Might actually be a better fight then we think .

Translation: I'm gonna dive for Haymon and Floyd because they are giving me a bonus to make their fraud pretender franchise look good. My time is done, it's Tank's time to be a fake star.

Gamboa is bigger than gervonta. Leo is way smaller than fervonta.

True! This is why i always make reference to the Thomas Hearns jab. If Leo can establish a hard jab or double jab from round one and maybe add a hard counter to keep Tank honest,it could be a long night for Tank.

Tank still has a huge advantage, but boxing IQ can make things a bit more even/competitive.

Leo has to expect Tank to jump on him from the starting bell.

The key to winning is not taking punches and hope you’re successful.

Is 135 the cap for Davis? He seems undersized for 140 never mind 147

He doesn't sound all that confident. Maybe instead of training to "take his punches" you can train to slip and duck his punches? He should be working on his jab and establishing distance. Don't allow Tank on the inside, and when he does get inside wrap him up and clinch like Floyd.
