Comments Thread For: Lopez: I Can Make 135 Again; I'll Be Fully Hydrated, Better, Faster, Stronger At 140

LAS VEGAS A showdown with Devin Haney could keep Teofimo Lopez at lightweight a little longer. If the heavily favored Haney beats Yuriorkis Gamboa on November 7 and isn't interested in opposing Lopez next, however, Lopez probably will move up to the 140-pound division. Brooklyn's Lopez said he "absolutely" would want to fight the winner of the Jose Ramirez-Josh Taylor fight next if he moves up five pounds.

I really hope that Haney knows he is the B-B-B side here. No signature wins. No legit belt. Meanwhile Teo just made a huge name for himself fighting a big fight on regular ESPN. I’m not saying Devin should take pennies, but he and his team def have to let go of having control of which network airs the fight in order to make this happen, and for that reason I highly doubt this fight is made. Would DAZN want to take that risk of getting back their paper champion without his belt, having not benefited at all from the match ? We will see. I like the idea of these young guys fighting and hope it happens.

I think he moves up if Haney Garcia, or Davis don't step up.

The only goo thing is that Haney, Garcia, and Lopez will all be competing at the higher weights together as well. Could see matches with those 3 happening in several weight classes...hopefully.

Most of these guys will be at 140 within a year or two, so I won't complain. Now....if anybody's entertaining the idea of pulling a Shane Mosely and jumping to 147 then, that'll suck for the fans.

My only hope is that this won't end up being the 140-lb division from the past decade....stacked with talent and most of them avoided each other. Even when they moved up to Welterweight, a lot of those guys fought each other waaaay too late.

I'll just be patient and see where things go. From the looks of it, boxing is in for a lot of big fights in the next 2 years!

I'd like to see Tank and Lopez give it a go but with PBC and Top Rank having so much going on with Wilder Fury 3 I dont know about it

Davis is not stepping to anything. He would rather start beef with Deontay Wilder than challenge a live body. He said he will only fight Lomachenko on PPV. What young fighter says that crap. Ryan Garcia has his hands full with Luke Campbell and will take time off after his gruelling fight. That leaves Haney who I believe steps up to the plate With open arms

Haney will show Loma how it’s properly done, no giving up rounds!

Lopez isn’t gonna be fighting a super featherweight with shorter reach this time!

I'm not sure if Hearn and Arum can make Haney vs. Lopez??? A lot has changed since Hooker vs. Ramirez! Lopez vs. the Ramirez/Taylor winner, is better than Crawford vs. the Ramirez/Taylor winner!

I think Tank will fight Gary Russell Jr. or Ryan Garcia after LSC. Maybe Shakur Stevenson? I don't think he wants any part of Lopez! Haney wants that smoke with anyone! He wants a big fight! The problem is how to get it??? I think his best chance is to fight the Garcia vs. Campbell winner on DAZN!
