Comments Thread For: Bob Arum: We Think Ajagba Can Be Among Top Heavyweights In The World

Bob Arum isn't sure about the pace at which his promotional company will move heavyweight prospect Efe Ajagba. Arum and his matchmakers will have a better sense of the unbeaten Nigerian's readiness for tougher fights after he faces Jonnie Rice on Saturday night in Las Vegas (ESPN+). If Ajagba annihilates Rice in their scheduled 10-rounder in Las Vegas, his handlers likely will allow him to take some semblance of a step up in competition in his second fight for Arum's Top Rank.

Ajagba should be able to take out Rice within five rounds. I only hope he has improved on his movement and style, because that is where he really need to work on. Movement is pertinent in HW boxing.

If he wins this fight with ease, his handlers should go for the winner of Dubiois vs Joyce fight. He really need to step up the ladder.

Arum will give him about 6 or 7 more fights before challenging the top 20 guys. His fundamentals are getting stronger. Combine all that gym work with natural athleticism and long reach... we could have a monster in the making.

I'm leaning towards agreeing, but certainly 2nd to Fury.

He's left it way too late.

Sources close to Ajagba have confirmed he is at least 38 years old, he's the next Luis Ortiz and will be an old man by the time he gets a title shot in the next 2 to 3 years

You can lie on your doctored birth certificate but not in the ring.

Yeah Efe Power is very impressive, wanted to see him continue to develop with Ronnie Shields but Coach Kay Koroma is a excellent young Coach/Trainer so Efe is in good hands with Kay! Hopefully he can correct some things and get him to work on his defense and head movement

Going after Joyce or DDD would be a very bad mistake after a near disaster his last fight no matter what he looks like later unless his handlers decided they lost interest in managing .

It's an open secret in boxing. Ajagba used to spar Luis Ortiz back in the early 90s

No, he is not, lol. people here kept trashing Whyte for losing to Povetkin, but Whyte is still a space shuttle for Ajagba.
