Comments Thread For: Anthony Joshua Very Motivated To Fight This Year, Says Hearn

The biggest domestic draw in British boxing, Anthony Joshua, could be forced to have his next fight behind closed doors. Three years ago, there were 90,000 fans to watch him overcome Wladimir Klitschko at Wembley Stadium.

I mean, as much as a fan of AJ I am, I think Fury will be the bigger pull in Britain now. Even more so after he embarrasses Wilder, again, for the third time. Just saying.

No one wants to watch Pulev fight so no need to wait for a live audience.

Nah Tyson's never been a ticket seller even after Klitschko which was a much bigger win. Ajs a puncher they always sell more tickets than skill.

They sold 80,000 for Pulev vs Joshua at Cardiff the firsttime so thats obviously not true.

Loud internet fans don't go to fights and outside of Manchester & maybe DUblin - I doubt Fury can sell out a 30k arena.

AJ fans are mostly women, kid, older citizens and middle class and you would know if you've been to his fights. And those people aren't going anywhere. They're not on YouTube and boxingscene posting comments. LMAO. Those are the pub chavs who're Fury fans and never liked Josh to begin with.

Wilder had one of the loudest fanbases on the internet - when did he ever sell out an arena?

The thing is though, who's been featured on British TV (outside of Sky Sports) the most? Tyson Fury, without a doubt. He's (or his family) been on the most popular morning TV shows (Good Morning, This Morning, and even Loose Women for shít sake), and his mental health story (something which the vast majority, in one way or another, can relate to) has been mentioned on every major English news channel (Sky, BBC, ITV, Chanel 5). Also not forgetting he's had his own documentary on terrestrial TV. My nan, who's 86 and isn't a fan of literally any sport, now knows who Tyson Fury is. She doesn't have a clue who Anthony Joshua is. She thought he was a chef.

Times are changing, whether us AJ fans like it or not. If you really think Fury vs. Wallin or Schwartz, and definitely Wilder 2, wouldn't have had Wembley sold out, then you need to give your head a wobble.

LMAO. He also had all that exposure before he fought Wilder the 2nd time. But how many people bought the PPV in the UK? They didn't even do 150k while AJ vs Ruiz 1 that was on a champions league night with two English clubs did over 500k.

Your nan isn't going to an event to watch a fight. And Josh was never on terrestrial TV as Fury as being even at the height of his career and he was breaking all records. Just selected appearances once in a while. He came out of the gate with his fans and they're not going anywhere. His fans aren't as loud as Fury fans but they'll always come out to support him.

Look at their social media accounts: Josh's numbers are still 5x Fury's numbers. So where are all these new fans Fury acquired since his insta account hasn't really grown apart from the big bump it got on the night he beat Wilder?

didnt see him punching much in his last 2 fights.

He was as entertaining as hughie fury in his last fight. no one wants to watch a massive 6'6 timid fighter.
