there was nothing to 'believe'
he did an interview with ifltv/kugan in NYC when he was promoting Danny Jaobs for the first time.
He began by talking about how someone in boxing (in the US) had dissed Eddie for 'not shutting up about Danny Jacob's story' (ie the cancer story). He then starts saying that IF the american public knew his story, if they understood it, they'd all be supporting Danny Jacobs.
He then gave an example, Deontay Wilder
"he should be a megastar"
"but no one knows him"
kugan is like "no way, you're saying people wont know who he is here?"
eddie asks a few randoms, they say no. Eddie looks smug "see i told you"
the clip gets 'taken out of context' and next thing deontay wilder is absolutely fuming at Eddie. Since then it's all been everything anti-hearn
"he came here like "yeahhh im taking over american", he wasn't respectful etc"
except he was very respectful when he came, people demonised him. they were trying to get showtime to blacklist him basically, so he comes back ****y, with the dazn deal.
given the backstory, he's done jack all wrong.
it's likely dazn would not have come in with the deal/money if it wasnt eddie hearn. just like Barry changed snooker and darts in the uk, the broadcasters who got involved, they liked barry. one of those situations where personal relationships matter.
notice the only people whove hated eddie in boxing, are his competition.
sky sports love him, dazn love him. the saudis love him.
as for dazn, here's my take
they should have frozen contracts during the lockdown period, automatically. every bit of common courtesy towards new subs matters. Amazon is where it's at because the customer comes first.
as far as their pre covid boxing content went, it was good in terms of matchups/events..but it wasn't in terms of pure promotional content. that's largely because they're new and learning.
like people saying "they didnt create new stars" some of that is true.
they should have partnered with hbo eg a dazn subscription gets you hbo app content outside of america. or alterenatively a dazn subscription in american gets you free sky sports content.
then used sky and hbo, who are mammoth companies (they work with sky for various content already) main channels to promote their app via ads.
it's bizarre how they've operated tbh. it's actually bad they left eddie hearn to take the blame for pretty much everything..and whenever they do speak publically, they're very vague on their actual intentions.
totally different to sky sports who have Adam Smith doing tons of interviews. the sky people just hide themselves.
in fact one of the directors of matchroom USA, he wont even show his face in photos...
BREEZE, Edward
this is his linkdn
ive actually seen his pic on someone else's (dazn related) instagram.
i wasnt looking for it, it just happened they tagged him in a pic and i recognised the name.
also, it was John Skipper who got the Goldenboy/Canelo deal
he has a lot of experience...being ex espn.
i'm sure this guy at least knows what he's doing?
