Thanks for the write up good to read something not of the corporate line the everyone is talking about what he is going to do next type if you follow. I have always been amazed and impressed with the lighter classes in weight. I can not add anything to your write up other then keep the fights coming. There are guys in those classes that are yet to be noticed or taken seriously until they get a bit of light shone on them. Nuff said. And they only get the light shone when they make big noise. Where as in other divisions it happen in reverse.

Future champion Sor Rungvisai/Wangek lost his 'pro debut' to future three division champion Yaegashi in Japan by third round stoppage. However, various ringside reports also state Wangek, a fighter using more than one name, actually had a professional record of 8-3 coming into this bout.

Sor Rungvisai was reported to have around 11 professional fights under him by the time he faced Akira Yaegashi. I know that Sor Rungvisai was not the force that he evolved to be at Superfly back in 2009, but it seems very weird that Rungvisai would debut in Japan.

I appreciate reading the detail in this article. Akira Yaegashi was a great piece in the puzzle, which helped establish great fighters of the lighterweights today. Thank you Akira, like Cliff said, it was worth staying up for his fights.

Damn straight I'd get up to watch my dude Yaegashi. He will be missed. What a warrior. I so often drop the "heads in chests" phrase because of him. A real inspiration.
