Comments Thread For: Bob Arum Motivated To Stock Up on More Heavyweights

In the last two years, Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum has begun to stock up on heavyweights. In early 2018, Arum's company signed a co-promotional agreement with now WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury. Since then, Arum has signed up fighters like 2016 Olympic gold medal winner Tony Yoka, Jared Anderson, Guido Vianello, and Carlos Takam.

“No matter how much you tell them, ‘Hey, these little guys in the lower weights are more exciting and make better fights,’ the people love the f--king heavyweights,” Arum told Yahoo Sports.

I must agree with Arum on that! I guess the casual fan is only hoping to see a KO, instead of the educated fan, who loves the sweet science! Loma vs. Lopez is a much better fight than Wilder vs. Fury! 126-154 is HOT!!!

I'll always prefer to watch two big blokes fight each other trying to cause damage rather than a couple of midgets having a play fight

Rivas - Takam would be a great fight.

The casual fan is not interested in watching two light weights dance through 12 rounds anymore..... They only want to see heavyweights slug it out.

                And he absolutely should.

Fury and Yoka, I want Ajagba and Coffie too. Let's not forget about big baby. Feed everyone to Fury.

Great for the Sport of boxing to have a lot of Heavyweight Action on a Networks like ESPN as well as FOX. Also great and Important to have Bob Arum Promoting Heavyweight Boxing! Darmani Rock is now available, would also be a great pick up for Top Rank/ESPN or PBC/FOX/Showtime or Matchroom/DAZN

The better question in my opinion is, why isn't Arum motivated enough to close the deal on his inhouse fights? Also, why is he doing their negotiations in public?

I'm not asking you, I'm just wondering.

Arum is also only half correct in saying the little guys are a hard sell. Promoted or self-promoted well, tho, they can be sold. Many examples are out there. Personality is a big factor and investment.
