THERE have been plenty of big announcements this week, with exciting fights being made, the PBC coming back into play, speculation about big bouts returning before the end of the year but one announcement dwarfed everything else. When Mike Tyson and Roy Jones signed a contract to meet in an exhibition in September 12 in California it set the internet on fire. Every range of emotion was put into a colourful online mixing pot; excitement, sadness, remorse, curiosity You could go on.

Punching power is the last thing to go, even at the age of 54 Tysons power is still at least 80%

If you didn't view this as sad and they make money for charity that would still be risky but this is not just two fighters past their prime it's two fighters that were both knocked to bits fifteenth- twenty years and have a joint age of 105.It's bad for boxing and could be disastrous and then you've got B-Hop smelling easy money by saying he would also like to fight Jr. Someone is going to be hurt here and boxing will suffer.

Realistically Roy has no chance of winning a real fight with Tyson on 9/12... this exhibition=light sparring work, 99% body punches only...

              You're 100% right.

I'm hoping Roy and Mike go in there and have a spirited sparring session and not to take each other's heads off.

Moral dilemma? In boxing? hahahahahahahah... The candeur of certain boxing fans would make an 8 yrs old kid with ADHD and Tourette scream out " Dude, are you for real"

I'm hopping too but Mike only knows one way and will be a danger until he gases after a round or two but in this time may well hurt Jr. If Jr. is still around by then Mike will be a swinging stationary, sitting duck ...either way , other than what you suggest it will be horrible. And hopefully will put an end to these old great grandpa's running riot.

I feel like, they need a better contract written up. Something a long the lines of, if you guys really want to go all out without holding back, you are completely taking this up on your own. You know death may be involved or serious serious injury can be sustained.

I'm sure both fighters wouldn't even hesitate to sign it. Then from there it goes to be, how will the viewing audience feel if either one of these legendary fighters ends up in BAD shape following this? How will that make the sport look or their views on whoever allowed this to happen despite probably not knowing that both fighters gave their consent? It's a pretty tricky situation I think.

It's like, people probably don't mind seeing a legendary fight come later than never, but they also don't want to be fooled by what they're watching. So do you want to see an older guy possibly lose his life over this? They're so many questions involved without probably 1 correct answer.
