Comments Thread For: Alexander Povetkin: I Don't See Dillian Whyte Fight As My Last Chance

Former heavyweight champion Alexander Povetkin believes he still has plenty of sand left in the hourglass. Although Povetkin (35-2-1, 24 KOs) will turn 41 years old on September 2, he's not viewing his Aug. 22 fight against Dillian Whyte as his last hurrah.

Most definitely is your last chance...Lose this and it's over imo..

I imagine fights galore amongst the top 4/5 fighters for the next 2 years+...

I see Povetkin catching Whyte with something big early or mid rounds and ending the proceedings.

Michael Hunter is much better a boxer than Whyte, yet Povetkin was able to draw. I hope Povetkin beats Whyte so to see him vs one of the rising stars (Joyce/Dubois or even Usyk).

Good to see Povetkin coming from the 'Del Boy' school of excellence

Povetkin can no longer box 3 minutes of every round, especially clean so a fast start is on the cards. Whyte needs to be wary.

I've mentioned before if Del Boy can land his hooks almost at will on Whyte then Povetkin is a real threat - especially early doors.

I mean to be fair i always think Povetkin is done after a poor performance but then he turns the clock in the next fight. I am unsure of how much he has left but hes a good test for any top 5 heavyweight out there. He might even strike a lucky shot, he has the power to KO Whyte but just not sure if he has the stamina to land it if it goes past round 5. Il place on a bet on Povetkin just in case haha.
I can see Whyte maybe losing focus and getting caught but i think thats the only chance povetkin has.

It’s a good opponent for Whyte

I can see it being discredited if he wins

The only person Povetkin hasn’t given trouble is Wlad, and even he had to make it the biggest foul fest in living memory to do so
