Some very welcome news here for all fight fans. Under the current climate, I didn't see these coming. Credit to all concerned, hope the precious divas are taking note.

So, in the absence of a live gate, is the $$ for these events - fighters purses etc - coming from Showtime?

"The ball is now in everyone else’s court to keep pace. If this is the standard everyone tries to meet through the rest of the year, 2020 has a hell of a lot left to look forward to."

ESPN and DAZN have to step their game up! PBC, job well done! Salute!

The network money is what carries boxing stateside....For the big networks of course. SHO has a budget for the year for their boxing program, that covers majority of the expenses for every card...And that was true even before the pandemic.

That is not to say gate revenue is not important as it is. For some fighters, they get their guarantee contract plus a piece of the gate money as well as the merchandise/food money. But a lot of these fighters barely do 150-200k in gate revenue so their purses are covered by whatever the network is willing to give for that particular card.

This is what I expected from PBC since the beginning. I hope they continue to make meaningful fights in each division. Reward winning. Give #1 contender's the shot they earned and make unification fights when possible. The only thing left is to make the cross promotional fights fans want.
