  • Comments Thread For: UK Prime Minister: Stadium Audiences Back From October

Crowds could return to sports stadiums in the United Kingdom from October. That was the announcement of the country's Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, on Friday. Sports events have taken place without crowds in attendance since March because of the risk of spreading COVID-19.

To be fair, nobody knows what the hell is going on, including the "experts". They only just stopped declaring everyone who ever died of anything after a previous positive swab as a Covid death. All the predictions have been wrong so far.

Excess deaths and deaths with Covid recorded on death certificates are both actually running higher than the officially reported "deaths with positive tests" figures, so this statistical issue is just another distraction tactic.

No, theres no excuse for counting every death as a Covid one without a cut off point as used sensibly in every other country, and I can't stand the tories. And no excuse for Covid death being confirmed from a care home without a positive test or evaluation from a medical professional, which has not been the case from care home workers. Cant protest disinformation and then say "ah, that bits irrelevant"..

It's not irrelevant, it still needs clarifying, but at the same time it doesn't change the fact that we're running at something like 65,000 excess deaths over the past 4 months. Until there's another explanation for that, then you have to assume Covid.

              Hope, is the right moment.

If this is safe, I don't have complains. Boxing need the gate revenue to make the fights we want. I hope UK is safe when the crowds begin showing to the boxing card.

Part of that number is probably from non-Covid causes due to less social and medical care available in hospitals and the community for example people with aggressive cancers.

Opening up stadiums must come at some point if there is going to be a full re-opening of society but I'd say it's a recipe for new contagion at the moment. Johnson is just plucking dates out of thin air but that is part of a leader's job - to offer hope when things are not looking good.

I don't want to hear that song Sweet Caroline anytime soon, what a grating song.

To be honest? Crowds can gather, people can do what they want 'All in the aid of making money'.

I'll tell you about one who nearly joined the stats. My brother in law has blood cancer, he hasn't had access to the blood tests he needs to be monitored and treated correctly. As a result he got seriously ill and had to be hospitalised. He recovered, but he's count had got dangerous and he clearly might not have made it. He would likely have joined the amount of excess deaths weve been seeing. An indirect result of the pandemic, but not really due to Covid. That's what I'm talking about. We've got to have the real numbers, or we'll have an artificial second wave as people die of other causes at end of life and the resulting shutdowns that put other peoples lives in danger.
