It's insane Amir Khan is the 14th richest man in boxing history

I got curious about the net worth of boxers throughout history etc, and while there were some surprises, like Anthony Mundine and Andre Berto.By far the most shocking entry was Amir Khan.

He is worth $40 million dollars!

More than Roy Jones jr, Chavez sr, Marquez, Carl Froch, David Haye, Joe Calzaghe, Felix Trinidad, Miguel Cotto, GGG, Tyson Fury, Deontay Wilder, you name it.

He is the 7th richest non heavyweight boxer in history. The richest british non heavyweight boxer in history. Only Joshua and Lewis are richer both heavyweights.

He earned around close to 9 million dollars fighting Billy Dib. That insane money for that level. He among the richest people in combat sports period, very few compare.

Is he overpaid? Or are boxers paid what they deserve?
    What do you guys think?

I dunno how accurate those numbers are but it's not surprising that Khan would be among the all time richest fighters list. The guy was a household name in the UK from the age of 17...17 man! He was world champ come 21, he fought on HBO and Sky and never got himself locked into exclusivity deals. The guy became the first British boxer since Naz and kind of Lewis to front major sports brands...of course he is going to be worth a lot.

I don't like Khan because of lots of arrogant things he says but he has a huge fan club and makes big money in lots of fights like about 15 million for his fight with Canelo. All he does is invest his earnings or bank it. He doesn't blow his money on fancy houses , cars, airplanes etc. that he doesn't need the way many high paid boxers do. So he is very rich. Other boxers who made big money and did not spend more than they needed to be comfortable are also very rich. Hagler , Leonard, Trinidad and many others are very rich. Others who made giant amounts of money but were foolish with it like Tyson, Hollyfield, hearns and Bowe have very little money left. Tyson learned how to make money off his name and has a few million bucks now. Foreman is probably the richest of all boxers next to Mayweather and worth a reported 300 million.

I'd question those numbers. There's no way he's a richer non-heavyweight British boxer than Hatton. Hatton was huge at his peak and had 2 megafights, Khans never had a fight as big as Hatton vs Floyd or Pacquaio.

Has he earned more than Naseem Hamed? I always thought Hamed was the highest earning non HW UK boxer.

Well young one. That’s not surprising at all. If you were not still in diapers when he was coming out of the olympics. You’d know he was a huge star in the UK and he had lots of hype in the boxing community overall. Basically starting from his first pro fight dude had the spot light on him. He made loads of cash in the U.K. starting with his first fight.

But regardless of what you think of him as a fighter, glass chin or whatever, dude fought a lot of top fighters and big names. He had lots of high profile fights.

So him being ranking high on the boxing earning list is not surprising.

Did you adjust for inflation? Dempsey's career earnings are estimated to be around $4 - $5M, when adjusted for inflation that is $60 - $75M.
