  • Comments Thread For: Will Boxing Fans Come Back To The Arenas?

By Thomas Hauser - The initial impact of COVID-19 was most visible on a national scale in the world of sports. The National Basketball Association, Major League Baseball, and other time-honored institutions shut down. Boxing followed suit. Now sports are in the early stages of return. Initially, most competition will take place without spectators onsite...

An article blaming the fans for the failure of the sport. Bob Arum claiming the problem is that no one is buying tickets. Why can't they understand that the fights aren't worth the price of admission these days. Rigondeaux-Inoue we would pay to see. Joshua-Wilder we would have paid to see. Canelo-GGG 3 we would pay to see. Jeff Horn-Tim Tzuyu not so much.
GGG- Strez not so much. Kid Galahad not so much.
Just put the big fights on and people will come. Leave the rest for local pool halls and you might get local interest. Grassroots fights should have grassroots prices. And leave the big ticket items for Vegas and New York. Nobody goes to Europe to shop at K-Mart.

The fans will flock back to watch live boxing when the times right.

If they want full houses then Prices have to reflect the cards... Putting one named boxer on doesn't make the card nor make it value for the ppv prices..

If there's one good to come out of this then it's got to be a shake up in finances for all involved from the top right down to the fans, because it's nothing without the fans as they've seen..

Before the behind the scenes fights started i was a little sceptical about the promoters talks etc and they would try take advantage of starved boxing fans.. but these closed door bouts have shown that majority of fans won't watch "anything" they churn out....

Biggest problem with boxing is boxing doesn't give it's fans the quality fights they want when they want them. If you consistently marinate big fights & give them lesser fights in the interim you drive away some fans completely & make others who stay masters of cynical outlooks on boxing who don't trust the sport to wanna even give it their money.

There are many problems in boxing today, to many to be cover on this platform so I'll just mention 2 ..1st you haven't got the depth of well schooled fighters these days , so many have not learnt the trade on the way up just choosing fodder to pad their records , talk on the internet of how good they are and have an over inflated worth of their limited ability ( sky sports allow this ) 2nd you have the trainers today , they are fitness trainers that believe they are COACHES because they can take someone on the pads ..sports fans are not silly , they know talent when they see it and have become wise on how they wish to spend there hard earned money ,
Other issues include to many worthless titles drugs cheats that are allowed back ... the list goes on an on , it's not even entertainment now it's become expensive predictable dross that quite frankly we will not pay for anymore but we miss it and want our sport back , we live in hope

The way I see it I don't think fans will be able to pack arenas like before this CV hoax. Things will never be the same thanks to the global elite. Communism is coming.

Promoters keep putting on journeyman vs prospect is now boring.

Pitch the best prospects with same records and make them fight that will get fans to watch and stop hype jobs fighter getting paid silly money

Is any one else not giving a **** about themselves, but just thinking of people they might pass it on to?

Don't answer if you are a *** protester/rioter.... we know you don't care about covid or passing it on already.
