Comments Thread For: Fathers, Sons and Roberto Duran

October 2006. A typical fall day in New York City if not for the far from typical man walking down 52nd Street. Wearing a blue polo shirt with a brown jacket and a baseball cap, Roberto Duran could have been anyone walking through the city during lunch hour, and he carried himself just like a regular Joe as he made his way to the iconic Victor's Caf.

    Duran;A Level Above

Duran was in a class of his own. I also think he was the greatest ever P4P. Still remember the fight he "lost" to Camacho. Past his prime and still countered nearly every punch Camacho threw. By round 10 Camacho was visibly reluctant to throw a punch because he new a harder one was coming back. It broke my heart to see that fight stolen from Duran. Even Leonard who was at ringside told Camacho, "You got a gift." As lightweight champion you could just see every possible ounce of power in his body was in his power punches. Just remarkable natural ability and timing.

I don't think Duran's the GOAT, but I do think he's the only fighter from the past 50 years I'd not argue against too hard (other than Ali).
