  • Comments Thread For: Top Rank on ESPN and What Comes Next

By Thomas Hauser - Two boxing cards promoted by Top Rank were televised on ESPN this past week. But the primary storyline wasn't the fights which were largely fungible. It was the return of boxing in the Coronavirus Era. Promoting a boxing match in a jurisdiction with responsible oversight is hard under the best of circumstances. It's more difficult...

Good article. Can’t hate on ESPN tooting their horn because they were the first ones to do combat sports broadcasting during covid-19.

The “proprietary protocols” that ESPN UFC claimed are funny. It’s not rocket science to ensure the safety for personnel. The less personnel as well as distancing procedures and sanitizers on site should do the trick. Realistically as long as waivers are signed why would ESPN worry about personnel safety with regards to legal, and the probability of severe or death is low...

The real problem is promoting the draws of the sport, not the non-drawers.

And lastly, I don’t get Stevenson saying he wants to become boxing's premier attraction "without having to play the villain role."

The guy was whaling on two females in public.

Well put nothing complicated. Everyone knows what we are being fed right now. No dif then any other sport right now. Well they all all sport that is tried to stay relevent long enough to keep people talking about nothing untill something could be put together. In that reguard all sport was exposed for what it is. And what it is not. Simple. Arum has done his job and done what he has always done. Made the fights and kept himself and his reputation clear. That is clear. If you are strung out on sport like some of us are you will take a light weight count this time and a few times more. But eventually some other people are going to have some product and it might be better? And if it is everyone will have to give us a better deal. right now Arum and ESPN are the only ones with any product. Even if the product is not very good. Damn the Pusherman Think I will cue up a little Steppenwolf. >>>

Shakur should be in jail. He is low life, class-less, hitting defense-less people on the ground from behind, hitting women. He is a punk. JAIL AWAITS just matter of time before he does something like this again. A real a**hole.
