Five months after light heavyweight contender Jesse Hart suffered a torn tendon and ligament damage in his right hand he was finally able to have surgery to repair the injury on Friday. On Jan. 11, Hart lost a 10-round split decision to former world title challenger Joe Smith Jr. in the main event of a Top Rank Boxing on ESPN card at Etess Arena at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Good luck with the hand rehab always a challenge and a question mark as to how a fighter comes back from a hand injury. He is in a spot where taking the time NOW to rehab and go thru that will be to his benifit due to the slow momentum of boxing with no crowds and so forth. didnt he have a new corner man and was putting out that he was going to change styles with his first two fights be more defensive? Maybe not could have confused with 90 other fighters. Might have been why commentators talked the way they did, jumped the gun on what was going on in the ring. Part of the game too. Everybody is just rolling with the punches right now in the boxing game.

Nothing wrong with this fight with Jesse coming off a comprehensive loss to another fairly basic heavy hitter in Smith.

I'd expect Hart to win fairly comfortably, but then I thought he'd beat Smith too so what do I know?
