Brooklyn's Melissa Oddessa has announced that she will be making the transition into the professional game, after a long and decorated career in the amateur ranks. For those who are unaware, Oddessa, who served in the US Marine Corps, has won all there is to win as an amateur boxer. The New York native was one of the few triple crown winners as an amateur and went on to win the US national championship on two occasions whilst serving in the military.

Nice. Hadn't heard of this chick before but she seems to have a solid attitude and 135 is amongst the strongest female divisions. Roziers a good dude too, hopefully get the best outta her.

Another one jumping on the bandwagon using the 2 or 3 names that are relevant, how old she ? Doesn't she realise by the time she's relevrnt taylor and Serrano will be to old , will have satisfied their legacy and have no need to fight probalbly a 10 or 11 bout fightet in 18 moths time , who advises these people to put these things in the press before they even laced a glove on and understand the pro game ..

No man, she's old already I think. Already finished her USMC career, and I got an article from 2014 saying she was 27 then, so what 33ish now?

Melissa Oddessa have a few years to fight in the professional ranks, but she going to become a threat to Kathie Taylor, Jessica McCaskill, Amanda Serrano and a few others between 2 or 3 years and scalp a few elite name in her resume. Let's see what is going to happen.

Looking at Melissa's ammy Boxrec you realise that without actually telling any untruths Mr Glover has painted a very rosy picture of her ammy career.

Although to be fair her greatest ammy accomplishments appear to have come before the beginning of the Boxrec record... in 2009 she won all three major women's nationals apparently - the 'triple crown'. That's a good while back though.

Still, nothing wrong with trying to get her name out there, and for sure she's still a very talented fighter. Wish her the best of luck.
