Comments Thread For: ESPN Announcers Initially Will Call Fights From Studio & Homes, Not Ringside

ESPN's boxing announcers initially will call the network's live events in June from a studio and their homes. Joe Tessitore, ESPN's blow-by-blow announcer, will call at least the Top Rank cards scheduled for June 9 and June 11 from a studio inside the cable conglomerate's headquarters in Bristol, Connecticut. Tessitore's broadcast partners analysts Timothy Bradley and Andre Ward, and insider Mark Kriegel will join Tessitore for those initial post-pandemic broadcasts from their respective homes.

Remember to mute your mics when it is called for. Don’t want to be watching a fight and hearing someone drop a massive deuce at the same time.

Especially if it's BoMac dropping that deuce

        Completely unnecessary

The UFC has held 4 live events with commentators spread apart cage side without any issues.

Al Bernstein said recently he finds himself watching the monitor over 90% of the time when he’s ringside. Says the camera crew is world class and they ensure the audience gets the best angle through out a fight. They won’t be missing much, according to this.

Why is boxing so behind when it comes to its product as a sport.

The fights are going to be so bad on ESPN that their telling the announcers...”so know guys stay home, we don’t want to fly you out here for these sparring matches”

WWE has its announcers and they even got fans out there that were all cleared to be there. Why can’t boxing do the same but with its staff

              Unique experience.

Is a rare experience, but we have boxing, I am happy. Beggars cannot be choosers for the one who like to complain.

I've seem plenty of streams of fights with foreign language announcers. Point being, I don't watch boxing for the announcers. Guys like Lennox Lewis don't seem to be watching the same fight as I am anyway. He will talk right through a knockdown, then have to watch the replay to see what happened lol

Hard to brag on yourself if you get distracted by action in the ring!

The way boxing is organized. The sanctioning bodies don't have broadcasters and stuff like that.
