Comments Thread For: Shawn Porter Welcomes Thurman Rematch, Doubts Feeling Is Mutual

As much as Shawn Porter would love a second run at Keith Thurman, he's not confident of such a rematch taking place any time soon-or at all. The former two-time welterweight titlist remains in a holding pattern, eager to get back in the ring but forced to wait out both a global health crisis to end and the title picture to take shape before learning how he fits in. Porter (30-3-1, 17KOs) has long ago earned a reputation for taking on all comers, but is currently sitting on a split decision loss to Errol Spence (26-0, 21KOs) and unsure of his next move.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't really care to see the rematch.

Thurman's career seems to be in steep decline, almost fallen off a cliff in fact. Bit harsh granted, but true.

Keith Thurman is the epitome of PBCism and what it can do to a fighter. Was on track to have a great potential HOF career. Then avoids Spence, gets lots of money anyway, wins a big fight, becomes inactive, wins another big fight and becomes more inactive, loses killer instinct and drive and is now on track to becoming an Adrian Broner type caricature. And no i don't buy the injury reasons. How's such a young fighter in his prime with so much inactivity getting so injured?

Honestly I'd give the edge to Porter, if they fought now. I just don't think Thurman has it anymore. Just my opinion.

Unfortunately it is a case of marinating gone wrong - since Thurman got injured before anything could happen resulting him getting stripped of the WBC. Which ended up in Shawn's hands without beating the real champion.

This confrontation should have resulted in a signed contract. After knocking that glasses dude out for getting in the way.

Shawn's only talking about it now because he's once again without a belt, same as Keef. Spence and Manny hold the cards.

              Porter

Yordenis Ugas has repeatedly expressed a desire for a rematch with Porter since his controversial loss against him. Porter conveniently never mentions his name. Porter should want that rematch to clear this up but strangely he never mention it.

Unfortunately for Ugas (who I felt beat Porter in a close contest), there'd be less money in a rematch with Porter than there would be trying to sell him in a fight against someone else as a comparison.

Ugas beat Crawford in the amateurs and stylistically, I think he gives Crawford all kinds of problems. That's a fight that would be interesting to see if possible. Plus, since Ugas finally went full bald he no longer looks like a damn 40 year old.

Thurman way over rated But so is the welterweight division as a whole. Regardless, he probably has the best resume of them all so respect for that . (Minus Pac man obviously who we all overlook)

Your right. Unfortunately he isn't a name and has a crap style. Good old boxing
