Comments Thread For: Ugas: For Two Years I've Been Asking For Errol Spence Fight

Yordenis Ugas (25-4) hopes to be back in the ring sooner than later. The 33-year-old Cuban welterweight is one of the few fighters to have fought in 2020. In February he stopped Mike Dallas just weeks before the covid-19 pandemic shut down sports all over the world.

I've been down for this fight. I'd take Ugas vs Danny, Thurman, Spence, Bud, Broner, Manny, Mikey. Any of those would be good fights.

Unfortunately for Ugas, I don't see him getting to many of the big names if any. He's kinda got that risk vs reward vibe. U wouldn't call him high risk, but he's definitely low reward.

Ugas deserves it more than Garcia. High risk no reward fighter.

Ugas is finding out that the people guiding his career have a conflict of interest.

Spence fans in 2015: Thurman is ducking Spence!
2020: Ugas brings nothing to the table there are much bigger fights for Spence

There were few times wherein the IBF gave the champ a pass on facing a mandatory challenger. This was one of them

**** the belts and **** the sanctiony bodies. Boxing needs to follow in the footsteps of ufc and have one governing body and one champion and one recognized number one contender in every division. And have a system in place where the best fight the best. Ugas is avoided and a handful for anyone in the division.

Let's see, two years ago. Spence was fighting Lamont Peterson (Bigger name - lesser threat than ugas at that time? IMHO nope).. And he fought Ocampo (Terrible mandatory but he WAS a mandatory), after that he fought Porter (Who Ugas lost to - some say he won, I scored it for Porter), and then Mikey Garcia on PPV... So i don't know where anyone could have fit Ugas in.

Ugas is top 10 welterweight, stopped Ray Robinson ( Kavaliauskas struggled to a draw with him only), arguably beat Porter. Hope he gets another chance soon.
