  • Comments Thread For: Arum: Tyson Return Could Do Well on PPV - But I Wouldn't Stake Money on It

Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum believes the ring return of Mike Tyson could potentially do very well on pay-per-view. The 53-year-old boxer, inactive since 2005, has been teasing the idea of a ring return - at least to take part in exhibition fights for charity.

Arum knows inside because tyson personality everyone knows and likes tyson . in a fun exhibition vs no name would do 1m ppv add holyfield 1.2-1.5m ppv add a semi legit semi fun old man fight with hopkins vs jones to get some for the serious fans then we talking 1.5-1.7m ppv sold add some else fun since its fun event. For the internet ppl and people that only know tyson from hangover ect comedy internet ect add logan paul on the card now we talking a 2m plus ppv event. 50 percent proceeds charity 50% fighters as a like nice retirement package. Tyson 1 time fun fight vs holyfield does more numbers than both wilder vs fury fights and crawford vs khan comebined and arum knows it add a nice fun undercard sales are through the roof

Depends on the format. At the end of the day Tyson is over 50, no matter how much power and how well he moves for his age; he'll still have the physical and mental wear and tear of a man his age. No way should he be put in against even a club fighter who's remotely near his prime. My preference if it's to go ahead is maybe a "masters" series; 3 rounds, sparring gloves, round robin format, with an upper and lower age limitation of 50-60. Think WBSS but with the last golden age of HW's, Tyson, Holyfield, Lewis for starters with the rest up for debate. Bowe, Ruddock, Moorer, Mercer and maybe McCall, Golota or Toney? Klitschko's, Tua, Briggs aren't old enough yet, Foreman and Holmes are way too old.

I never really feel like I understand what I'm watching with exhibition fights. So, there's no headgear, but is there an agreement to throw punches at 50% power or something? Are the fighters trying to win? Or make each other both look good? Is it basically a spar? Obviously there is no betting line, so ******** houses say it is not a true competition. Hard to get excited about regardless of the names involved. I'd maybe pay $10 tops to watch.
