Comments Thread For: Serrano: I Want To Be The First Boricua To Be Undisputed Champion

Amanda Serrano will never stop representing Puerto Rico. With each win, she'll also never stop making history on behalf of her beloved island as well. The record-setting seven division titlist-who now lives and trains in Brooklyn, New York-is anxiously awaiting clearance for her long-awaited superfight with Katie Taylor (15-0, 6KOs), the two-division and reigning undisputed lightweight champion from Bray, Ireland. Their bout was due to take place May 2 in Manchester, England but was postponed in the wake of the ongoing coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

At present, when all records are beaten, it is not good enough to be a champion for some. You have to be the first one-legged ******** lgbt puerto rican champion.

Can't really put women's boxing records in the same category as men's boxing records.

The quality of opposition is lower and so is the depth of the competition pool.

Seriously. Serrano's a nice girl and all, but somebody has to give these chicks (especially Shields) a reality check about these legacy comparisons between the men's and women's games. Being a 4-weight champion in women's pro boxing is roughly equivalent to being a men's Silver Gloves Champion ...of Rhode Island. There are only 63 total women in boxing - across all weight classes.

                    Good for her.

I think she can do it.

                    I'm rooting for her.
