Comments Thread For: McCline: I Was So Lucky To Have Calm, Smart Glenn As Father Figure, Trainer

Jameel McCline called Jimmy Glenn's phone Wednesday, hoping that his longtime trainer and father figure would be healthy enough to answer it. The retired heavyweight contender spent much of Thursday on the phone with numerous people that wish they, too, could speak to the treasured Glenn again. Glenn, 89, died early Thursday morning from complications caused by COVID-19 (https://www.boxingscene.com/jimmy-glenn-longtime-trainer-cut-man-owner-popular-bar-dies-from-covid-19--148735).

McCline speaks very highly of Glenn which is a fitting honor for one of boxings unsung heroes. Make Glenn "rest in peace".

Really nice of McCline! Father figures aren’t so easy to come by, and when you do experience one? It leaves lasting impressions that makes life more bearable and takes you through life with more reassurance!

BIG RESPECT to McCline and his selfless father-figure Jimmy Glenn! McCline had an imposing style, but fell short of actually being imposing. I was always expecting him to reach that next level.

He was fun to watch, but he had those gun-shy approaches in those championship fights (the ones I remember) that puzzled me and frustrated me. Now I know why, he started really late in this game.

Unfortunate that this gentleman isn't likely to get what reads to be a very much deserved ten bell salute before a big fight.
