    Julio Cesar Chavez says fighting on Cinco de Mayo was so special for him to connect with his fans as he joins Jessie Vargas in a special episode of Peleamundo'. The Mexican legend boxed countless times in Cinco de Mayo weekend and the month of May over his incredible career and speaking to host Jessie Vargas, the former three-weight World king discussed how it felt to fight for his people on that date, especially his rematch with Frankie Randall in 1994.

    Ahh the good ol days. The Mexican holiday/boxing dates have really taken a hit recently. Last yrs 5 de mayo fight was a borderline snooze fest, the Sept 2019 date was main evented by Munguia vs a nobody, Corona virus impacted this date but who knows if there would've even been a fight since Canelo never signed.

      I noticed he mentioned the mexican American fan base. Clearly it’s more important in the USA than in Mexico save for Puebla

        Cinco de Mayo is more an American holiday than a Mexican, celebrated by white people, with very few knowing they're celebrating a war where brown people killed a bunch of white people.

        That's why I find it funny when whites on this site complaining about how Canelo didn't fight on this date was bad.
