Comments Thread For: De La Hoya: I Had Two Torn Rotator Cuffs, A Little Over The Hill In Mayweather Fight

Oscar De La Hoya has accepted his close loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr. "The Golden Boy" cannot help but wonder, however, what would've happened had he fought Mayweather when De La Hoya was younger and healthier. De La Hoya still gave his rival credit for the adjustments Mayweather made in the second half of their 12-round, 154-pound title fight during a recent appearance on CBS Sports' "State of Combat" podcast, hosted by Brian Campbell.

Yeah you were a little over the hill but no one wants to hear the excuses all these years later.

Especially at 30+, it’s very rare for any athlete to be at 100% when competing in sports. Everybody has something that keeps them from going 100. Mayweather, for example, had chronic hand injuries that kept him from being 100%.

I scored the fight 7-5 for ODL. Even Roger Mayweather thought Floyd lost.

He ripped his fishnets the night before as well whilst engaging in utensil sex.

Dont know how to come to Roger thought he lost, he told a good friend of mine he knew Floyd had it after the 9th.

Two rotator cuff tears in both shoulders, really Oscar, a no arm man and it took 13 yrs for this to come out.

At least he did say he knew Floyd had beat him.

                Shoulder injury?

                I've heard that before.

Oscar should swim in salt water

Yeah, so many people on this site go on and on saying that Mayweather somehow ran away with it. I had ODLH by 1, but there were close rounds.

Another excuse... Just like Mosely, Oscar had the chance to fight Floyd years before but chose not to, so years later after he lost he could always say he wasn't in his prime
