Comments Thread For: Hearn Wants Joshua-Fury, Denies Negotiations Have Begun

Eddie Hearn had denied speculation that negotiations have commenced to match his heavyweight Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury. However, he does say speculative proposals have been talked about should the roadblocks to that fight, Kubrat Pulev and Deontay Wilder, step aside.

Not surprised, story seemed bogus to me. Wilder and Pulev both denied it as well.

They talk the biggest UK event ever and keep selling Fury short. He wants biggest event on earth ever, they're just trying to bring him down. He will push for Vegas or N.Y. if it comes to it, for no other reason than to raise his cut. I'm not saying the US is better than the UK, I'm saying Fury has crossed cultured into a super star in America. It's going to take a whole lot of money.

          Inclined to agree..

Venues are venues however the revenues potentially generated in America over GB is astronomical.

For doing the same thing against the same people you'd be mad not to capitalise if your comfortable doing it....

I doubt neither will host the fight. The Saudis reportedly paid £30m, to AJ (Ruiz didn’t get a penny of whatever the Saudis paid), in order to host the fight, and that will be on top of whatever the gate revenue was. I think a bidding war will occur with both AJ and Fury pocketing, at bare minimum, £25m each. With that Saudi royal family money in a bidding war, whoever lands the fight will be paying big bucks. The total revenue would be the highest seen since May-Pac, with a potential to rival it.

Fury will probably retire after an AJ fight, and he’s already achieved his dream of fighting in Vegas so the money will be talking in Fury’s ear. As for AJ, he’s got at least another four years to fight in Vegas so no rush there.

And in such a fight, I also doubt the US gate revenues would dwarf the UK; US gate revenues have historically been a considerable amount higher than the UK due to the price tag of seats at the MGM coupled with the exchange rate. The exchange rate isn’t that big of a margin nowadays and the ticket prices in the UK for a AJ v Fury fight would be a fair bit higher than usual. At somewhere like Wembley, 90k in attendance, the gate would be huge. But I still see it happening somewhere in the Middle East or Africa.

Have you bothered watching the interview?

Negotiations havent taken place but offers have been made, the fight is pretty much in place but theres the multile issue of Pulev/Wilder/Covid 19.

As I posted a week ago, AJ and Fury both want each other and not the other numpties, its just that those numpties dont want to step aside.

Isn't it funny that the greatest boxing match between two British fighters will take place in the US or Saudi Arabia?

The Great Britain needs to look at itself in the mirror and reevaluate their value for boxing

Not so, GB gave us Fury. The issue is Fury has transcended nationality. He is the world champ, not only in London. You tell Fury about 90 thousand UK fans and he sees 90 thousand more PPV.

Well Bob is adamant that Pulev isn't going to step aside and Finkel is adamant that Wilder won't step aside. So I'm guessing Hearn has his work cut out trying to make the biggest fight in the sport happen next.

                    Im not holding my breath.
