Comments Thread For: Spence: I Was Taking A Lot Of Stuff For Granted, Heading Towards Self-Destruction

It didn't take long for Errol Spence Jr. to realize how close he came to losing everything. The unbeaten and unified welterweight titlist humbly admits that his recent car accident completely changed the life he nearly lost in the single-car crash last October in downtown Dallas. Spence suffered multiple injuries from which he's fully recovered and is back to no-contact training, but what he also learned to repair was what was slowly deteriorating on the inside.

Hope he sticks to his thoughts. Man he's lucky. That accident was horrific. If he needs real motivation to straighten up his daughters should do it.🥊

Hopefully he does/has learned from his mistakes. Was a nasty accident. Will he come back the same fighter? I hope so at full strength because he could be involved in some very good fights..

“It’s tough. I had to do that to myself. I’m the hunted right now. There’s a lot of games behind me like I was, and they coming up behind me. There’s an X on my chest and they trying to knock me off.”

So he finally gets it. Zab Judah said that Mayweather trains like he is still broke.

No Zab, he trained like someone who has a bullseye on him should. When you're the best, everyone is gunning for you, everyone is having the best training camp of their lives and fighting the fight of their lives against you.

You have to always be at your absolute best because every single one of your opponents is coming in at their absolute best.

No more drinking, no more ill discipline. You can retire at age 35 and then enjoy all of that for the next ten to fifteen years, maybe more.

To make sure you can enjoy that, you gotta grind right now.

Thoughts and prayers, thoughts and prayers.

Honestly that's why i was so pissed at Errol. A dude with talent you don't often see, and that you wait for, as a boxing fan. And you see this greatness, and then you find out the damned dude wants to be more like Fred G.Sanford, hitting the fu.....g ripple, getting saucy. Knowing damned well that's the worst thing a fighter can do for his body. To a true boxing fan, it feels like a serious betrayal, like breaking up with a bad ***** who ends up with a bum ass ni...

I hate to say it, but it might be too late. His mouth is messed up in such a way, it won't stand up to punches. Next.

Maybe it took as long as it took for his body to begin ejecting out of the sunroof of his Ferrari?

What the hell kind of opening line is this? Step up your game, Donovan. You have Dan MF'ng Rafael on the team now. BoxingScene is now a legitimate boxing news chronicle.
