Comments Thread For: Arum: Optimistic Crawford-Spence Happens Next Year Once COVID-19 Situation Clears Up

For the first time in more than a year, Bob Arum really believed there was a strong chance of a super fight between Terence Crawford and Errol Spence seeing the light of day in 2020. The Hall of Fame promoter has publicly pushed for a clash of unbeaten welterweight titlists for some time, usually falling on deaf ears and with his own reaction never remedying the situation. In the wake of his working with Spence's adviser, Al Haymon to have ESPN and Fox Sports join forces for the heavyweight title fight rematch between Tyson Fury (ESPN/Arum's Top Rank) and Deontay Wilder (Fox Sports/Haymon's Premier Boxing Champions) came the belief that joint ventures between the two could become the new normal.

“If we hadn’t had this coronavirus situation and continued doing fights in March and to this day, we would be talking about a Crawford-Spence fight towards the end of the year.

“I really believe that would’ve happened.” - Bob Arum

I guess he found Al Haymon's phone number???

Crawford is getting up there in age so the skills slip a bit. I still think he can do it against Spence Jr. A year ago it would’ve been a whitewash.

Either way, Spence Jr won’t be able to make the weight next year. That was always gonna be the story anyway.

              PAC vs. Mikey or DSG.

              Crawford vs. Spence

PAC will dominate either García foe, and winner between Crawford and spence fights Pac, which more than likely will be Crawford.

I feel this fight isn’t even as exciting anymore as it used to be. It’s still a great fight don’t get me wrong but it’s another case of them taking way too long to make it happen & Spence I feel got a bit exposed in the Porter fight. A lot including me thought he was levels above fighters like Porter & Thurman but Porter held his own the entire time & barely lost. Spence is an elite fighter but he’s still not as good as people originally thought. Crawford I feel has a lot more talent but his only weakness against Spence is that he’s the smaller fighter.
