  • Comments Thread For: Deontay Wilder: No One Should Be Surprised I'll Fight Fury A Third Time

Deontay Wilder doesn't know why Tyson Fury or anyone else would be surprised he wants to fight Fury a third time. Fury told talkSport last week that he didn't think Wilder would take the third fight he was contractually owed because their rematch was so one-sided. The unbeaten WBC heavyweight champion claims Wilder only agreed to box him again because Wilder will earn so much money to do it.

Wilder has no choice he has no other options ,that went out the window when he said AJ is mentally weak and would run away from his rematch so he now has to put himself in that position again or he looks like a fool .

He's addicted to taking a beating of course he's going to trigger the clause...

On a serious note, He was never going to walk away from it. Too much is at stake. There's still a chance he can win (don't think he will) because it's boxing and we've seen things happen. He wouldn't have been able to live it down if he turned away. Lots of Fights get cancelled in negotiations and rumours come out that so and so fighter didn't fancy it etc but this would be in your face public humiliation..he'd get far less humiliated than walking back in the ring and possibly taking another tanking..

Fury won't be surprised. As far as he's aware it's easy money.

I'm not the least bit surprised and as much as I'd like to see Joshua v Fury over Fury v a Wilder 3 I really don't blame him for taking up the rematch clause.

I wanted Joshua to ignore the calls to not take his rematch with Ruiz and so can't complain if Wilder ignores calls to take step aside cash.

I could imagine a deal being struck that could net Wilder a nice lump sum to step aside as well as getting a guarantee of facing the winner of AJ V Fury for all the belts rather than just the WBC. But he's just interested in trying to beat Fury and get his belt back. Like I said, can't blame the man.

Can anyone honestly picture Tyson having the dedication that is required to consistently defend the WBC HW championship? Al the grueling miles of road-work , the sparring every six months and recovery? Deontay can make it easier on himself and let the Otto Wallin's keep softening up Tyson Fury and challenge Tyson at the right time.

Just the injuries alone that Wilder suffered and managed to overcome in his long reign is a feat, Tyson does not have superior-genetics to sustain this elite position, without retiring -- and that is exactly the plan, but the 'Bronze-Bomber' is not going to let Tyson take anymore shortcuts in the trilogy.

Its wierd.. Are these really boxing fans saying this? Wilder has problems with Fury because he's 6'9!!! Leaning back from the right hand and hes 7ft! Fury is slick and has been fighting his entire life! Wilder crushes anyone shorter than him because he can punch down.. Generating that atomic bomb that bails him out of every fight... We forget that AJ is shorter with less head movement than Fury.. An AJ is definitely not as slick as Ortiz.. Who is also a southpaw.. With great amateur pedigree.. But AJ is a great boxer with tremedous power.. So it will be a great fight!! I dont know why people think that Wilder should retire.. He's a problem for anyone that's not taller than him.. Which is everyone but Fury. If u dont agree.. Then you are not being honest and have some other private reasons for your dishonesty!
