  • Comments Thread For: Dirrell: Benavidez Won't Give Me Rematch; Knows I Was Winning Before Cut

Anthony Dirrell feels he deserves a rematch with David Benavidez. If not for the cut he suffered in the sixth round, Dirrell is certain he would've worn down Benavidez and dealt the WBC super middleweight champion his first loss. Benavidez battered a bloodied Dirrell toward the end of their 168-pound championship match September 28, until referee Thomas Taylor stopped it in the ninth round.

Dirrell has taken a few to many shots to the head to believe this...

Before the cut really started to affect the outcome of the fight, Dirrell was starting to solve Benavidez. In the beginning, Benavidez overwhelmed Dirrell with his reach and power, but then Dirrell started to expose Benavidez for his one-dimensional style - perhaps Benavidez needs to bring in trainers to assist his trainer dad. At one point during the fight, I had Dirrell taking a temporary lead. However, his cut got bad, and Benavidez started to pick apart a desperate Dirrell, that had to change his game plan from cleverly boxing to aggressively going for a knockout. I had Benavidez taking over on points again......and then the fight was stopped. I don't know if Dirrell has anything left, but he exposed Benavidez. If his cut has fully healed and if he's still interested in resuming his boxing career, he should seek a rematch with Benavidez.

Theres usually no bigger of a laughingstock than the Quiterrell brothers making excuses for quitting like they do best, but this latest deflection is especially pathetic as this clown is now trying to cry his way into another payday. Pathetic...

There are a few, like DIrrell, who can outbox Benevidez... but not for the full 12. Eventually he catches up to you and then, well...
