Comments Thread For: A Closing Stretch for the Hardcore Four

By Cliff Rold - Perfect round robins don't come along every day in boxing. Be they formal or informal, timing, injury, business, friendships, sheer ego, or the scale can make it difficult for a single cluster of fighters to exhaust all their possible matches. The foursome of Manny Pacquiao, Marco Antonio Barrera, Erik Morales, and Juan Manuel Marquez gave fans thirteen often incredible bouts, but never gave them Morales-Marquez. Heavyweights Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier, George Foreman, and...

Throw Nietes and Ioka in that mix too. 115 is such an elite division. Add those two to that 4 and you have 4 maybe 5 future HOF’ers IMO. Tanaka moving up too... what a division!

Ioka mentioned; I'd love to see he and Nietes against Choc (three of the four who have won titles from 105-115 all still out there). Have to wonder if Nietes is low key retired or not at this point.

Master pieces each one named in this article. Enjoyed every single one of the fights. The Duran, Leonard era I got to watch on YouTube and loved it!!! These are all the guys that keep boxing alive yet got paid peanuts.

Yeah he hasn’t fought for well over a year, I wouldn’t be surprised if he hangs ‘em up.

I’ve always wanted to see Gonzalez vs Nietes myself, I’ve always felt like Nietes wasn’t all that keen on it though.
