It seems like only yesterday that I walked past the infamous pool at Caesar's Palace en route to the outdoor arena. Built on tennis courts, the site served as ground zero for Marvelous Marvin Hagler versus Thomas Hearns a fight so good that it was simply called "The Fight."

Great piece. I was a ten year old in Scotland at the time and been following Marv since he battered Alan Minter in 1980 in London - which got me hooked on boxing and The Man himself. I can remember being nervous as hell before the Hearns war because I knew Tommy had a nuclear bomb in his right glove and I was scared Marv could very well get waxed. It's hard to describe the adrenalin rush just watching that fight.
Tommy also became an idol of mine throughout the rest of the 80s. Love both guys hugely to this day.
It's nice that the author still feels the magic from that night like I still do myself.

I could not believe the ferocious action in this fight when I saw it. The intensity could be felt.
