  • Comments Thread For: Devin Haney Eyes Ryan Garcia, Open To Mikey Garcia, Broner at 140

WBC lightweight champion 'in recess' Devin Haney says he would love to renew his rivalry with amateur foe, Ryan Garcia, who is now a hot contender in the paid ranks. Haney is itching to get back into the ring and resume his reign as WBC lightweight champion having been made champion in recess after suffering the shoulder injury in his first defense against Alfredo Santiago in Los Angeles in November that forced him to have surgery.

Damn, man... gotta say young Ryan Garcia has surprised me once or twice, now. Especially thought he'd struggle more with Fonseca, but I still see this as a relatively easy win for Haney.... it's a funny one though, I mean they're both under DAZN but my sense is that neither Matchroom or GBP will really want to risk this one just yet, cos the pair are poised to be flagship next gen dudes for their respective promotions. I'd hope that wouldn't get in the way of what could be a really good breakout fight for either kid, but my guess is we don't see it.

And high as I am on Devin I'd say Mikey's a step too far right now, get a little seasoning first, kid. Maybe 2021 or 2022. Good to see ambition though.

Be careful what you wish for,

I really believe a motivated in shape Broner can take this boy to school if it’s at a catch weight but no way Broner makes 135. As for Garcia, I’m sure after taking all that Errol Spence put out this kid will not be able to stop him from coming all night long. In fact I would bet that Mikey wins by decision or late stoppage in this one

Wrong! He should hire AB as his coach and he'll be unstoppable.

Too early to tell who would win. Let's see who has the warrior heart when they find themselves hurt and rise to the occasion when adversity looks them in the eyes. Mike Tyson's phrase is irrefutable, "everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face".

These kids want the big money fights right away, is Broner-Haney a big fight?

If Boner EVER gets back in the ring he'd better be motivated and in shape...this fool can't take too many more Ls especially to a young buck like Haney... With that said Haney has talent and can fight so they better get him now

If he can't get Fortuna next, then I would like to see Haney vs. Commey @ 135! If he wants to test 140, AB would be the perfect opponent! I just can't see AB being disciplined enough to make 140!

Broner is always in shape. That's not his problem. All that talent that people say he wasted? He fights lazy, hoards his punches, minimum footwork. Haney and his injury are the question mark. He can out hustle Broner on a normal night.
