Makes sense Mike was mentally affected by the vicious bullying he experienced as a child.

It literally made him an animal. So seeing that Alpha Silverback bully the other guerillas probably took him to an emotional place. Luckily the zoo keepers had ethics and most importantly realized the decision was a terrible one.
