Comments Thread For: Mikey Garcia: I Would Fight Pacquiao Similar To How Marquez Did

If Mikey Garcia gets the opportunity he has long wanted, he would approach Manny Pacquiao in a similar manner to how Juan Manuel Marquez boxed the Filipino southpaw. Mexico's Marquez, lauded for his ring IQ and precision, knocked Pacquiao unconscious in the sixth round of their fourth fight seven years ago. Their first three 12-round fights were extremely competitive contests that resulted in a split draw in May 2004, a split-decision win for Pacquiao in March 2008 and a majority-decision victory for Pacquiao in November 2011.

Comparing Marquez to Garcia is like comparing Larry Holmes to Gerry Clooney.

Everyone that has fought Pacquiao since that fight with Marquez claims the same thing. I think Mikey has already lost.

slow ass plodding garcia was outboxed for the first half of the fight by shot vargas.

That after running all night against Spence, he doesnt deserve a pacquaio fight.

You want the big money, you need to work for it.

Garcia can only beat Pacquiao if he gets into tip top shape to where he can move like he used to in the lower weights. Was in better shape vs Vargas, but was still flat footed and easily outworked, needs more legs. If Pacquiao inflicts half the damage on him he did on Marquez in most of those fights though, Garcia likely doesn’t see the final bell.

Marquez took offensive chances. That's why he won. Garcia rarely does.
