The British Boxing Board of Control has extended its suspension of all tournaments until the end of May due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, effectively pulling the plug on both of Matchroom's scheduled pay-per-view heavyweight events during the month.

Dillian Whyte was supposed to be facing Alexander Povetkin on May 2 in Manchester, with Katie Taylor boxing Amanda Serrano on the undercard, while Oleksandr Usyk was scheduled to face Dereck Chisora at the O2 Arena, London, on May 23.

The idea of studio fights without an audience is becoming more and more like the way.

With no live gate how is a studio fight behind closed doors going to pay all the expenses of paying the fighters etc?? Obviously they will rack up the prices of ppv to over $100 I would imagine in the US and probably about 50 pound in England, that's the only way they would make a fraction of the money without a live gate.

im wondering if theyd be better served HALVING the cost of the PPVs and mass marketing them while everyone is in quarantine. perhaps it would encourage new fans to check it out?

then again, im sure they know better. if you arent a fan of boxing, you likely arent going to pay at all or watch even if its free. the real data would be in what they KNOW their audience is willing to pay and what other segments of their audience arent willing to pay.

plus, businesses are reluctant to devalue their product as it sets a precedent and conditions people to lower their expectations of what it should cost which could hurt them in the long run.

all in all, what a useless comment i just made. if you read to this point, then i apologise and may God have mercy on my soul.

I’m so desperate right now that I’d pay to watch Lawrence Okolie
