  • Comments Thread For: Stevenson: Gary Russell Ain't No Punk; I Don't Think He's Ducking Me

NEW YORK If you push promotional and network affiliations aside, Gary Russell Jr.-Shakur Stevenson obviously is one of the most appealing fights that can be made within the featherweight division. Neither fighter really has talked seriously about that 126-pound title unification fight happening, though.

I wouldn't mind seeing this fight but I'd much rather see Leo and Russell jr rock out

It's a fight I'd love to see, but honestly I don't think young Shakur's ready yet. Inactivity aside GRJ is a superb fighter and proven at a much higher level... ain't complaining cos a young fighter should be hungry to prove themselves, but I think it'd be a better fight once Shakur got at least a top ten name on his resume.

As for GRJ 'ducking' him... well I know he's saying he ain't, but even the suggestion's kinda weird. Man, you gotta prove that you're an actual threat before you accuse anyone of avoiding you.

Arum would not put Stevenson in there with Russell Jr. His 0 would get snatched up at this point. Russell Jr is the best fighter at 126 right now.

Russell vs Leo or Davis are great fights. That said, they're waiting for him to lose or retire.

I'd put Russell in there with anyone up to 130lb and favor him to win.

Nah, GRJ has been literally begging for some smoke, any smoke for a hot minute now!

Your paragraph is kinda of crazy. Maybe he heard people saying that Russel jr. was ducking him and he said that that isn't true. He didn't accuse Russel jr of anything.

Though I agree with you that anyone who thinks that Russell jr is ducking him is absurd. Russell jr is way ahead of him at this moment. Imo.

I’d rather see Russell vs Stank
