  • Comments Thread For: Gamboa Recovering Well, Hopes For Return in The Fall

Former world champion Yuriorkis Gamboa is already itching to get himself back in the gym. He wanted to start training while sitting down. His coach, however, has asked him to continue his recovery process and now hopes the Cuban Olympic gold medal winner will be able to return to the gym sometime in April before fighting in the second half of 2020.

Gamboa should have retired on this last fight. There’s no better way to go out than giving it all you have with an achilles injury at 38 years old.

          From a torn achilles?

I don't know. I'm skeptical about one of my favorite NBA players Kevin Durant coming back close to 90%

Never mind shot old Gamboa, he does have balls though I'll give him that. Fought the whole fight like that? Wow.

I still marvel when i think of how well Gamboa was able to use all his skill and experience to hide the fact that he only had one foot, couldn't get leverage on his punches, keep a straight face, hide his pain, fight hard, keep a young strong skilled kid like gervonta at bay, and basically bluff his way through all those rounds with a terrible achilles injury. Regardless of his loss, he showed he's a boxing master

To be fair to him he didn’t do bad at all with a messed up Achilles. I don’t know how much he had left although I do know he’s past it. It’d be nice to see him have a last good performance. Maybe that’s more my heart saying that than my head though..!

I’m not sure he’s willing to stop l, especially after that. I hope he’s got a good performance left in him and then gets out. Think he’ll come up short at top level now though.
