At the PPL Center in Allentown, Pa, Jaime Arboleda survived a knockdown to win an excellent action fight by narrow split-decision over Jayson Velz in a WBA Super Featherweight Title eliminator. The scores were 115-112 for Velez and 114-113 twice for Arboleda.

I think he won the fight as well. First he got robbed against Gradovich and now this. The knocked down made the difference imo. Velez is a warrior for sure, great fight.

He won the fight, they gave the close rounds away. Velez grew into his rep. It was more noise than action early, but he's known as a hard night now.

I gave it to Valez he was fighting going back at times maybe that was the judges out ? I would have to watch it again bc it was such a good fight to watch I just kicked back and enjoyed the action. Arobla looked like a beaten fighter at the end in his corner before the results were read and as he was leaving the ring just beat down. Good fight defense who cares let it fly.

Jayson Velez looked very strong, what beautiful technique! Jaime Arboleda went into deep waters and survived, good win.

                  Fight of the year contender!

This was an amazing fight with such sheer violence and carnage and will and heart and determination plus subtle skills on display!

If you don’t love that fight then you just don’t love boxing!

Credit to Arboleda for showing so much heart and guts and also credit Veléz for always showing his level and warrior mentality!

Veléz will definitely get another shot at a title or eliminator as most fans felt he won the fight as so did I!

I had Velez winning 7-5 and the knockdown in Round 12 sealed it. In truth, the final round could have very well been a 10-7 round. Something needs to be done about the judging because when there is such a wide variance between judging from round-to-round, it means that either something fishy is going on in which the promoter influences their scoring or they are simply not employing the same criteria to score a round. One or the other.
