Comments Thread For: Golden Boy Matchmaker: Diaz Demanded Farmer Fight

Joseph Diaz Jr. could've taken what his handlers would've considered an easier title fight than the one Diaz demanded. Robert Diaz, Golden Boy Promotions' matchmaker, would've welcomed pitting Diaz against the winner of a November bout between Andrew Cancio and Rene Alvarado.

He will put up a fight for most of the fight but Farmer UD is gonna be the result. Diaz at least isn't looking for easy fights.

Farmer's style seems like it will be tough for Diaz but, at the same time, I don't think Farmer is as good as Russell Jr.

Really it's more about Diaz - who takes way too long to reset against a faster footed guy. Gets flurried on...then he habitually rub his gloves together and then he tries to step and rock forward...it just simply takes too long.

I don't think he will be as outclassed as he was vs Russel, so maybe his timing and some more power will show..that's what I'm hoping for, rooting for Diaz

Agree. Can't match speed and try chasing. If Diaz throws straight combos down the middle and works his angles aggressively, he can make that work.
