Comments Thread For: Williams: Hurd Has To Live With Loss In Hometown, Ducking Rematch

PHILADELPHIA Julian Williams wasn't the least bit surprised when he learned Jarrett Hurd passed on the immediate rematch Williams owed him. Williams thinks he might've demoralized Hurd when he upset the then-unbeaten ex-champion in their 12-round fight for Hurd's IBF, IBO and WBA 154-pound titles. Otherwise, Hurd would've welcomed an immediate rematch Williams owed him according to clauses in their contracts for a memorable May 11 bout Williams won by unanimous decision in Fairfax, ******ia.

Julian would beat Hurd again, easier than he did the first time. After tonite's win vs Rosario, Julian will have bigger pay fight opportunities than fight with Hurd...Julian don't need has been Hurd.

For some reason I wouldnt be surprised usually when the good guy pulls off a huge upset ( this one was only on paper ) usually they dont hold on long . But in reality I see rock winning and unifying with charlo

Harrison isn't a good guy brother if that's who you're referring to besides Williams. Tony mocked & kicked Jermell when he was down yet Charlo humbled Harrison

I can see J Rock winning too like u said. What a saw vs Hurd (skills, IQ, stamina, etc) is more than enough to beat Rosario.

No def wasnt referring to tony . There are levels to this and my eyes tell me William's is a far superior fighter to tony . Tony is a good boxer but he has poor stamina and camt seem to keep focused for a full fight . William's imo is the real deal . I just see history shows the guys who pull off these feats dont hold on long . Altho most of the examples iam thinking of are after hey score one punch upsets . William's thoroughly outclassed Hurd. And I figured that was coming just didnt think rock would do it . I thought hurd would unify with charlo ,move up and lose to canelo . But hey that's why I love this sport theater of the unexpected

I really hope that J-Rock does fight Hurd again
I really like Williams but just to be clear that the first Hurd fight wasn’t a fluke
He seems very humble and I do believe he will give Hurd the rematch
Hurd was being thrown at us as the #1 in the division and the boxer who most likely take over the division , so why not , no shame there imo
