The World Boxing Association (WBA) reiterated its support for Mexican professional boxers who wish to participate in the qualifiers for the Tokyo Olympic Games. Through a letter, the president of the WBA, Gilberto Jess Mendoza, wished luck to those who decide to look for their passage to Tokyo 2020.

The WBC can go f**k itself.

Who are they to decide this shouldn’t happen?

Hopefully the IBF shows support to and renders the WBC penalty completely useless.

Leave amateur boxing to the young men, that should be their crowning moment.

When we start getting rid of the sanctioning bodies the WBA and WBO should be the first to go.

If an MLB baseball player showed up to a little league game ready to compete, I think we'd all agree that that wouldn't be fair to the up and comers. The Olympics is the opportunity for amateurs to showcase their raw skills. Professionals wanting to compete with amateurs are sad and pathetic.

I’m still kind of against pros competing in the Olympics in general but it ended up not really being a problem in Rio. Maybe a decent compromise would be to allow professionals but disallow current or former world title holders.

Why not let the Pros fight at the Olympics?!?!

I say make it a crossover Match and have the World Titles and Gold Medals on the line......

Hell I think you should also have it be a triple threat match with hands taped with glue and glass for the Silver and a tag team tornado match for who is ever left for the Bronze!!!!

Mike McCarthy can even be the Ref and we bill it “BOXING WAR GAMES MANIA 6”

Have Jim “MY GAAAAWWWWDDD” Ross as commentator and Have Steve Austin give the Belts and Gold to the winner before hitting then with a Stunner and giving a H3LLLLLLLLLLL YEAH......

Look boxing is a dangerous sport.

            PROS KILL OTHER PROS.....

Why should a Grown Man in his prime be putting the paws to a 19 year old prospect FOR FREE!!!!

            Let the young kids shine......

            You had your Chance

Yeah that's a terrible comparison... They had professional MLB players on the US team last time they had baseball in the Olympics. This is elite world level, most of the boxers at that level are better than the pros you see getting blasted out in showcase fights...

The age of all the medalists from 2016 Olympics seems to average around 22-24 with only 4 I could find that would be under 19 at the time.

                    Joahnys Argilagos
                    Shakur Stevenson
                    Nico Hernandez
                    Bektemir Melikuziev

Every other sport in the games is rife with professionals so why not boxing? The Olympics are a joke at this point and their corruption is almost on par with boxing so what's the big deal?
