Comments Thread For: Haney: At The End, I Want My Name Mentioned With The Greats

Unbeaten lightweight contender Devin Haney (24-0, 15 KOs) is looking for much bigger things in 2020. Haney had a very busy year. He dominated Xolisani Ndongeni in January, then scored a vicious knockout of Antonio Moran in May, came back in September to win the WBC's interim lightweight title with a four round stoppage of Zaur Abdullaev.

Well Devin I can just about guarantee you that fighting the likes of Xolisani Ndongeni, Zaur Abdullaev and Antonio Moran on an APP while on the undercard of a Youtube circus show, you will never be a famous boxer here in America. Maybe you will be a legend in Sheffield, Glascow and Liverpool (oh wait they don't have DA-ZASTER either). Never in NYC, LA, DC, the BAY, Philly, Houston, ATL or the CHI. That's really too bad because I like Devin's skills a lot. That young man can rumble his ass off and it's ashame that casuals and the general American public will never even hear of him. The next Money May fighting in front of teenie bopers on a you tube undercard. What a shame. Bob Arum said it right, you chose the wrong company. While ESPN struck gold with the Teofomo, Commey, Loma race, Gervonta Davis about to host a massive Showtime event in the ATL and Javier Fortuna about to battle it out for the WBC possibly on FOX, looks like you're going to be on the outside looking in. Please Devin, I'm begging you (and Andrade), please end this lil' summer fling you got with Eddie Hearn and come back to an American platform before its too late!

Hey Oldskoolg I hate to sound like a negative Nelly because I truly do like Devin, but someone needs to get to him and explain it to him like Angelo Dundee .. "you're blowing son, you're blowing it'

Devin has all the talent in the world and if he was on free tv he would become a star but that isn’t going to happen on dazn. Stars are not made on that app, stars are made elsewhere such as PBC, hbo, espn, etc and then sign with dazn for big money in the short term due to a total lack of exposure

Devin Haney is like 21. Of course he doesn't have a strong resume yet. Most fighters are fed bums until they're ready for world level opposition. Haney was set back by an injury, but he'll be in a position to get big fights once he comes back.

I don't understand this obsession with DAZN having an app. You wanna talk exposure? Andy Ruiz got more exposure beating AJ on DAZN, than he did fighting anyone else on any other network. Keep in mind that the US is DAZNs largest market. Besides, we don't care about boxing as much as we used to. Over here, it takes a back seat to sports like football, basketball and baseball. We're not as willing to spend $75+ on a fight as we were in the 90s.

DAZN gives you a year of fights, for less than what you'd pay for 2 American PPVs. This is good for the sport. As for apps vs cable tv, people are slowly moving over to streaming services. Matter of fact, 74% of American consumers used streaming services earlier this year, and the internet's practically a nessecity in 1st world countries. Netflix alone went over 60 million subscribers recently. When it comes to boxing, apps like DAZN are the future.
