  • Comments Thread For: Barclays Center Exec: I Don't See Any Signs Of Us Slowing Down

Keith Sheldon envisions the Barclays Center remaining every bit as active in offering boxing in 2020 as it has been in each of the past few years. When Brett Yormark left his position late last summer as chief executive officer of BSE Global, speculation spread within the boxing industry about whether Barclays Center would remain as completely committed to boxing as it has been since the first card was held at the Brooklyn arena seven years ago. The recent announcement of Barclays Center's first show of 2020, a January 25 card that'll feature Danny Garcia and Ivan Redkach in the main event, indicates it'll remain one of the most active venues for boxing in the sport.

When I made that thread about Yormack leaving Barclays everybody told me that was the end of it for PBC. Once again they were wrong. Just like they're wrong about Showtime leaving boxing. But can't tell these people anything because they rather believe what they read from known anti PBC writers instead of paying attention to what's really going on.

With MSG in the fold, Barclay's has become irrelevant. Their 2019 fights were meaningless.

barclays is a great venue for boxing...id much rather go eat and drink before/after a fight in that area....than around MSG....

i wish theyd put loma/lopez there...but pbc has a stranglehold so its unlikely

Barclays is the home of boxing in NY. They've sold way more tickets for boxing than MSG and hosted more boxing events. Promoters don't like going to MSG unless it's a guaranteed ticket seller because it's so expensive to rent out.

ive been to quite a few arenas in my life...stadiums as well...obviously arenas and stadiums are different...but MSG is probably the most overrated arena ive ever been to....its just "historic"...other than that its pretty basic imo

Madison Square Garden ain’t what it was. The NBA team has been a laughingstock for most of the last 20 years. MSG is growing old and stale with its mothball acts like 95 year old Billy Joel. Barclays took the play away in NYC

That is great news! The Energy at Barclays is usually really good for boxing. Need more big fights at Barclays though
