Comments Thread For: Joshua: I'd Hate To Vacate a Belt - I Know I Can Get it Right Back!

Earlier this month in Saudi Arabia, Anthony Joshua reclaimed the IBF, IBO, WBA, WBO heavyweight titles when he won a twelve round unanimous decision over Andy Ruiz in their rematch. Now Joshua has two mandatory obligations at the table - and both sanctioning organizations have ordered Joshua to make a defense.

Joshua is not looking to vacate any of his belts - but he could be forced to drop either the WBO or IBF - if neither mandatory challenger is willing to step aside.

This is 100% false. The author of the article is an idiot. There's a federal injunction barring any of the bodies from stripping a champion due to conflicting mandatories. It's up to the IBF & WBO to decide whose turn it is. Neither can strip Joshua as long as Joshua fights whoever they agree is next. If they can't agree, they still can't strip Joshua as long as he fights the two mandatories back to back.

          Pulev first, Usyk follows next.
Joshua vs Wilder appears to be in 2021.

Joshua doesn't want to fight Usyk, so they will say they had to drop a title and it will be the WBO. What you say is true, but they will take the Kubrat Pulev fight and shun the WBO, without a doubt. Eddie Hearns has said as much on iFL interviews on YouTube, but he misses out the part about there being away to move forward without vacating a title.

It seems like a bs position to be put in. Can't the organizations be reasonable and let him decide who he can face first then handle the other mandatory after?

He'll have to vacate WBO. Usyk and Parker will fight for vacant WBO. It's not a coincidence that WBO pushed (in latest rankings) Parker to #2 spot (previously he was #5).

The Hearn monopoly rolls on .This suits Hearn perfectly Usyk and Parker fight for the vacant title and Joshua fights the winner for the undisputed against one he's already beaten or against one whos experience at heavyweight is very limited.

All this is secondary news really as the real heaveyweight championship fight is the rematch between Wilder and Fury as we well know theses two would beat any of the three above mentioned......period!

Hearn can twist all this as much as he likes but the truth is nobody will ever forget that only six months ago his cash cow was taken to bits and brutally knocked out by a little fat 19' 3lb fighter who managed to eat himself out of the rematch at 20' 3lbs thinking that even with out training and coming in grossly over weight he would still beat Joshua.....that's the truth.
