  • Comments Thread For: Hearn: No Journalist, Media Outlet Can Tell a Fighter Where To Earn

Eddie Hearn, promoter for Anthony Joshua, is not in agreement with the ongoing criticisms regarding the decision to bring the rematch with Andy Ruiz to Saudi Arabia. The rematch takes place on Saturday. Writers, media outlets and human rights groups have been very critical of the move - claiming the Saudi authorities are using high profile sporting events to take away the attention from the human rights issues within the country.

No one is telling him where to earn, they’re criticizing the two of you for where the event ended up for very fair and clear reasons.

This guy is such a sleaze. He might pull the wool in the UK but everything he does is so transparent.

No. But thankfully an American free press broke the PEDillian cheating scandal that the bought & paid for UK press sat on to protect 2x doper fraud contender and snake oil con man promoter. And Saudi Arabia prince bin murder KILLS free press journalists. Your kinda guy, Eddie?

AJ getting what .. about 80mill and Andy Ruiz getting about 10-15 mill to fight.
Anyone else cares to match that or $TFU.

Go after the guy in the White House , the enabler in chief.

I guess you don't believe in the power of free speech, huh? Incredible...

As for Eddie saying the media can't tell a fighter where to earn... They really can. There's this thing called the free press.

If South Africa was still under apartheid, would it just be OK for fighters to go fight there and give a tacit seal of approval to the regime?

If China put on a fight in Hong Kong that required the fighters to pose with the police in front of Chinese flags, that would be nothing more than a sporting event, right?

The fighters can park their morals and take the money, but they have to accept the criticism that comes with it -- it makes them puppets. It is conveniently self-serving to say taking the money isn't endorsing anyone politically, but the reason these awful regimes pay out these huge sums is precisely for that reason. And it rings awfully hollow when the fighters pose for photos either side of the crown prince.
