Anthony Mundine's boxing career has hit the end of the road, after the former WBA super middleweight champion lost in a shocker to John Wayne Parr in Brisbane. Judges scored the fight 95-94 for Mundine, and 96-93 and 95-93 in favor of the Muay Thai legend who was fighting in a boxing ring for the first time in 16 years.

He looked very bad in his interviews leading up to this fight. It’s long past time to hang them up. I was never a big fan of the guy, but I looked up some of his old interviews from years ago and Vick pares then to now and it’s night and day. Best of luck to the man.

Damn a guy who last fought in 2003 (16 years) takes a fight and beats Mundine LOL

A sad ending for Mundine who had heaps of natural talent but no direction, let's hope that he does hang up the gloves this time for his own sake. It was an awful fight showcasing two fighters who should have been doing something less physically demanding, like playing with the grand kids.

I agree. He was slurring and at times seemed to struggle to put his words together like he had some kind of early onset dementia. It was weird given past interviews where he was super confident and slick with his wordplay. He was never a great fighter though. Just a good local carnival spruiker who found his niche market.

Actually, every time Mundine gets beat, it is a joyous experience for the comments Mundine made about 9/11. Hopefully I get to see him knocked out in leg quivering fashion. That would be something to celebrate.

Despite being a polarising and divisive figure in Australian sport, in his campaign to bring the U.S boxing culture and style of trash talking to a resistant public, attempting to emulate his idol, Muhammad Ali, Mundine did manage to revive boxing in Australia during his career which has been on life support since the retirement of Kostya Tszyu in 2005.

Many boxing fans went to their local pub, club or bar usually with hopes of seeing an opponent shut the outspoken, provocative, and perverse mouth of 'The Man.'

I always appreciated the unconventional style that Mundine portrayed in front of the camera's because let's face it - most sport's interviews are as interesting and predictable as paint drying.

15 years ago I trained at the infamous Elouera Tony Mundine boxing gym, and Anthony was a quiet, reserved, and polite fellow, I watched him spar many a time, and his hand speed was astonishing.
It sat in another infamous place in Sydney called 'the block', the closest thing we have in Australia to an inner-city ******.

It's now closed which is a real shame. I do think Anthony, who was also co-trained by RJJ's father could go on to be like his own father and help train the next generation of young indigenous boxers.

Best not to take what he says seriously, he's mostly tolerated at home because pretty well all the controversial stuff he says is just ****** and out of touch. Plus he's a wonky ****** which does not help his thought processes.
