Comments Thread For: Team Ryder To Meet With Hearn, Write To WBA Over Scores

John Ryder's trainer Tony Sims will be writing to WBA President Gilberto Mendoza to voice his opinion after Saturday's controversial scorecards in Liverpool. Ryder challenged WBA Super Middleweight champion Callum Smith, in his backyard, at the Echo Arena, and despite the performance of his career, and many observers believing he won the fight, Ryder was beaten by unanimous decision with scorecards of 116-112 (twice) and 117-111 for the champion.

Ryder was straight up robbed. It's almost pointless to bother with this crap anymore. Ryder won, everyone knows and it was a lot of in-house junk that has denied him what he deserves.

Saw the fight last night and my oh my was that a daylight robbery!

Smith won no more than 3 rounds, he was simply awful!

I always said he can’t fight on the inside and that a strong mauler with head movement and can parry jabs and with good chin and stamina would give him trouble!

Ryder was making Smith miss with plenty shots and then landing his own, he had Callum on the run in the 12th and was basically bullying him!

Smith killing him self to make 168 doesn’t help either as it probably is sapping his strength!

I’ve always said Canelo would beat him and posters said no way Canelo fights cuz he’s too big and uses his size well, but Canelo can easily get past the jab and work the body like Ryder did!

Canelo has more tools than Ryder and a better defense an is much faster!

Canelo should take the fight as some have Smith as number 1 at 168 and would be a quality to win!

Smith is in his prime and undefeated

Why would anybody want to see Canelo fight Smith after that fight?

I don’t think anyone really wants to see Smith at all, except in the rematch which he's due Ryder.

Good for him. One of the biggest robberies I've seen in recent history. Smith was beaten, outworked, and frustrated. Literally had rope burns on his back from being punched and pushed against them smh

I was so close to putting the fight on when it was live & decided not to at the last minute. So glad I didn’t watch yet another robbery. Something needs to be done about this type of stuff since it makes Boxing look so bad. Why would casual fans come back to watch just to keep seeing robbery decisions?

                Good on them.

At the end of the day they should it’s a robbery because they’ve literally robbed John and his family unless he is given a rematch.

I just don’t get what judges see.

I really think they only way to make it fair is if you have judges who genuinely don’t know who the f.uck either fighter is.

Let’s say Ryder was called Canelo and that fight plays out the same.

It’s an easy 117-111 across the board

The only justice here would be for Canelo to fight John Ryder for a massive payday and to freeze Smith, Hearn and British boxing out of the fight.

Not that Canelo was ever going to come to UK. Even less chance now theyve seen the judging.

WBA only have one answer to this problem and this will be to create another belt.

                    That would be good.

It would be a good fight whilst it lasted as well.

                    John would go all in.

Actually would have had it maybe if Ryder wasn’t already robbed against Fielding.

That fight wasn’t even that close either
