INDIO - WBA featherweight titleholder Xu Can successfully defended his WBA featherweight title Saturday night, defeating Manny Robles III by unanimous decision. Scores were 120-108, 119-109, and 118-110 for Can, who improves to 18-2, 3 knockouts. Can was making his second defense of the world title he won from Jesus Rojas on Jan. 26. Robles, who was ranked No. 4 by the WBA, was fighting for the first world title belt.

It was announced that Xu Can sold 400 tickets to the event and had most of his fans being bussed in.

Xu Can is a talent that has plenty to gain. To say he is at the top of his game is false. This kid is only 25 and what he does well is fun to watch. He is only going to get better. What's scary is how much this kid enjoys what he's doing. It's clear, to see. Man, opponents should be afraid to hit him that only fires him up. Fun to watch him and I look forward to seeing him throughout the rest of his career. A nice piece to throw into the welterweight division. Btw. His Jan fight against Rojas is still top of my list for FOY...
